An excerpt from FOOTSTEPS IN THE ATTIC, by Paul F. Eno

From "Staring Across the Centuries" Page 47

The ex-maid recounted her own experience, while she was working at seven one morning in the Elizabethan part of the house. She had heard footsteps in the hallway, she said. When she looked, she claimed that a woman in old-fashioned clothes looked at her, made a motion that the maid should stay put, then vanished.
According to the maid, other staff members had scoffed at the story. As the tale was told to me, Lady Carson later learned that earlier occupants and staff had heard footsteps in the same hallway as far back as she could find.
