An excerpt from FOOTSTEPS IN THE ATTIC, by Paul F. Eno

From "The Crying Ghost" Page 59

There was no more activity that night. When I left an excited but groggy Ann and John at about 2:30 a.m., I urged them to build up this feeling of compassion, love, solidarity and even humor in the house. I advised them to pray fervently and often for this poor woman, whoever she was or would be.

I was wonderfully gratified only a few weeks later when I talked with Ann by phone. She was in tears, but they were the tears of someone who has been deeply moved.

"We did what you said. We prayed and we told her we loved her. My God, Paul! Everything started to feel so wonderful and, like, clean! There was never any more crying. But last night we all woke up at the same time, around midnight, and I swear the whole house smelled like flowers! It was the most beautiful thing I’ve ever felt!"

Then she let me in on the "grand finale."

"John and I came out of the bedroom and into the kitchen this morning. We were all happy. Then, right in the middle of the kitchen floor, we saw this big, beautiful lily! No idea where it could have come from. Just one cut lily, biggest one I ever saw!"

Of course, the flower could have gotten there in any number of ways, but the Queridos saw it as a parting "thank-you" gift from their uninvited guest.

Well, why not?
